BodyPaint, Maya, mental ray, Mudbox, Photoshop, ZBrush
January 2009

This is a remake of a model that was in my showreel that I made just after graduating from the university of Hertfordshire. The original model was rushed and I didn't quite know what I was doing in zbrush. I didn't know any techniques for serious detailing and sculpting and it showed. now since I have been practicing using programs like Mudbox and Zbrush I have got quite a lot better than I was a few months ago.

The story behind Sharkface is that he’s supposed to be a mutant who lives in the sea. His skin isn’t much like human skin because it is constantly in water so he has skin similar to an amphibian but resembles the same colour and texture characteristics as a human. The little designs on his nose and neck are inspired by the markings on the Leopard shark.

Both displacement and normal maps were used together sized at 4K. The other textures were made in photoshop and I painted over texture seams in Bodypaint 3D.

I'm rather happy with how it turned out though I think there is still a lot of room for improvement in all aspects of this creation.
Hope you like it :P
